Round 11 | Mallee Derby

Round 11 saw us back on home soil to host the inaugural Mallee Derby against the Mallee Eagles—and what an incredible day it was!

Seventy years since our two proud clubs first met, it was a special occasion made even more meaningful by seeing so many of the same families still representing their clubs today. Despite thick fog creating challenging conditions, every team battled hard across the courts and on the field, producing some fantastic contests.

A huge thank you to Elders for generously donating the Best on Ground prizes for every game. Congratulations to the Mallee Eagles on taking home the first-ever Mallee Derby Trophy, and to our inaugural Best on Ground medallists:

The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, with a fantastic crowd cheering on every match. Off the field, our Diamonds & Denim Ladies Day was a wonderful success, raising $3000 for Jeans for Genes Day in support of the Children’s Medical Research Institute. Thank you to Bev’s for the delicious cocktails and The Juke Sea Lake for the fantastic catering.

We rounded out the celebrations with a mouth-watering spit roast, perfectly prepared by Marni and Pete Bull, along with an amazing spread of sides to share. Live music from Jason Davies kept the dance floor buzzing well into the evening.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who helped make the inaugural Mallee Derby such a memorable day.

We can’t wait to do it all again next week as we head to Lake Boga for Round 12. See you there!
